Who we are

A Dutch family chasing a completely different life — that’s where the Crunchy’s journey began.

In 2015, we moved from the Netherlands to Australia looking for adventure, freedom, and the opportunity to build something truly our own. With nothing more than determination and a marquee, we started visiting local markets selling freshly made Belgian waffles. What began as a small family business quickly grew into something much bigger.

After our first year, we created one of the most recognisable food concepts in South-East Queensland: the Crunchy’s Double Delicious Double Decker Bus. Our iconic 1980 Leyland Atlantean became a familiar sight around Brisbane and brought smiles, waffles, and unforgettable memories to thousands of people.

Like many businesses, COVID forced us to stop and rethink everything.

Instead of giving up, we reinvented ourselves again — this time opening a unique brick-and-mortar destination in Jimboomba. It became incredibly popular in a very short time because people were looking for something different, something authentic, and something made with heart.

But deep down, mobile food was always where we truly belonged.

In 2025, we decided once again to build something Australia had never seen before.

That’s exactly what inspired our newest concept:
Australia’s first fully self-service Dutch snack food truck, and we named it Crunchy’s Black Box Snacks.

Inside our truck, everything is freshly cooked from scratch and stocked into modern computerised vending machines that carefully monitor freshness, temperature, and restocking requirements. It’s fast, contactless, efficient, and incredibly convenient.

Our menu brings authentic Dutch comfort food to Australia:
fresh beef croquettes, bitterballen, frikandellen, and other savoury snacks loved across the Netherlands for generations.

What makes us different is simple:
we respect people’s time.
